The vermutería in the heart of the Eixample that honors Terra Alta with unique wines
It preserves a nostalgic touch of the old neighborhood wine cellars.

If you love vermouths with personality, you’ll love this one: dark, intense, and with a hint of licorice, it’s one of the most unique on this list. It’s a full-bodied vermouth with notes of toasted caramel and herbs that give it a deep, enveloping flavor. It pairs wonderfully with dark chocolate or caramelized nuts. To enjoy it properly, just add a couple of ice cubes and an orange peel—nothing more—along with a quiet winter night and some good music.
From this innovative family winery based in Terra Alta, with a focus on sustainability and minimal-intervention production, comes a gorgeous, crisp, and modern Garnacha. Highly versatile with food, just chill it slightly to fully enjoy its thirst-quenching freshness. Casa Mariol also produces fantastic vermouths (vermut in Catalan) and has a very cool wine bar in Barcelona that’s well worth a visit.
Casa Mariol Vermut Negre Terra Alta, 15%, $30, 1 liter
Casa Mariol makes wine and vermouth in Terra Alta, in southern Catalonia. This bottle is made with macabeu, a white grape generally used as a component in cava. To achieve the dark color, it is macerated with green walnuts and local herbs. It offers the aroma of vanilla, thyme and orange zest. On the palate, it’s pleasantly bitter with a flavor combining orange and vanilla, a bit like a Creamsicle. (Vinos Libres, New York)

You can pair it with a classic gilda as an appetizer, but it also goes perfectly with tapas and pintxos of all kinds. The perfect companion to enjoy your free days with family or friends.
